Insurance Information

To process your insurance-supported treatment at Myoset, please email the following information to info@myoset.co.uk before your appointment:

  • Your membership or policy number
    for example: 1234567X / MY1234567M / AXA/A1234567)

  • Your pre-authorised treatment code or authorisation number
    (for example: 12345678 or AB12346)

  • The number of sessions approved by your insurer

Please note that without valid authorisation and the required insurance details, your insurer may be unable to process your claim. In this situation, you may be responsible for covering the cost of your appointments directly.

Insurance Procedure

Before booking your appointment, please contact your insurance provider to confirm:

  • Whether your treatment is covered
  • If a GP or specialist referral is required
  • The number of approved sessions available under your policy

Once you have received your authorisation code, our Reception Team will be happy to arrange your appointment at Myoset.

Important Information About Policy Contributions

Depending on your insurance policy, you may need to contribute towards the cost of your treatment. This may be referred to as:

  • Excess
  • Cost share (co-insurance)
  • Member contribution
  • Benefit limitation

If you are unsure whether any of the above applies to your policy, please contact your insurance provider directly.

Please note that our administration team cannot access details of your private medical insurance policy, so all insurance information must be confirmed and provided by you.

FAQ

Which private medical insurers does Myoset work with?

Myoset is registered with AXA, Aviva, Bupa, Vitality and TruHealth. Cover for physiotherapy and osteopathy depends on your individual policy rather than the insurer alone, so confirm your entitlement before booking. Myoset can be reached on +44 20 4586 1446 or at info@myoset.co.uk to help with your claim.

Do I need a GP referral to claim physiotherapy on insurance?

Usually, yes. Many insurers require a GP or consultant referral and an authorisation code before treatment starts, although some policies allow direct access to physiotherapy without a referral. Check your policy before your first appointment because treatment started without the required authorisation may not be reimbursed.

Does Myoset bill my insurer directly?

Direct billing depends on your insurer and individual policy. Myoset will try to claim treatment costs directly from your insurer where this is available. If direct billing is not possible, Myoset will notify you and you may need to pay for the appointment and reclaim the eligible amount from your insurer.

Which documents does an insurance-funded appointment require?

Bring your insurer name and policy or membership number, your authorisation or pre-approval code, your referral letter if one was issued, and details of any policy excess. Without an authorisation code, the appointment may need to be treated as self-funded, and reclaiming the cost afterwards is not always successful.

How many sessions will my insurance cover?

The number of sessions covered is determined by your insurance policy rather than by Myoset. Insurers may authorise an initial block of sessions and request a progress report before approving further treatment. Some policies limit physiotherapy by session count, annual monetary allowance, or both.

Can I use insurance for massage, Pilates or compression therapy?

Generally, massage, Pilates and compression therapy are not covered by private medical insurance, although there can be exceptions. Soft-tissue treatment may be covered when it forms part of an authorised physiotherapy plan. Pilates classes and Recovery Lounge compression sessions are generally treated as wellbeing services and are self-funded. Some cash-plan policies may reimburse part of the cost, so check your policy.

What if my policy has an excess or only covers part of the fee?

You pay any shortfall directly to Myoset. This can apply where your policy has an excess, the insurer reimburses a set amount per session below the clinic fee, or your authorised sessions run out during treatment. Myoset’s self-funded rates are £75 for an initial consultation and £65 or £88 for follow-up appointments.
